Looking For a Way To Enjoy The Island Summer Closer To Home?
We specialize in building beautiful, spacious decks for our Island clients.
A Custom Wood Deck is an excellent way to keep a natural look and feel about your property while greatly enhancing your enjoyment and your outdoor lifestyle. Many decks today are built out of wood because it’s affordable and easy for a builder to work with. Not too mention it’s been a staple deck building material for decades.
Island Pro Mowing and Landscaping Inc. has an in-house construction team that specializes in designing and building beautiful new decks onto Saanich Peninsula properties.
From a simple single level pressure treated wood deck, to a multi-leveled and expansive deck made with either wood or composite materials. If you’d like to incorporate a deck into your landscape design plans then you’ve come to the right place.
What Type Of Wood Decking Materials Do We Work With?
The most affordable and commonly used type of wood for decking would be pressure treated decking materials. They are readily available and affordable for most budgets. However, wood can also be quite expensive if you’re wanting to build your deck out of more luxurious redwood, cedar or the even more expensive Ipe wood. Natural decking materials however offer a certain richness and feel that you can only get from using wood.
What’s The Difference In Wood For Decking?
Exotic Hardwood Decks: Many of our customers inquire about the available of exotic hardwoods such as camaru, meranti, tigerwood, garapa and more. The benefit to using an exotic hardwood is that they have unique colors and shades and they are also rot and pest resistant depending on which species. Island Pro Mowing and Landscaping Inc. specializes in working with these more exotic (and tougher to find) decking materials.
If you want a deck constructed out of an exotic hardwood then it’s best to contact us early so we can make sure the material will be available for your project.
Redwood & Cedar Decking: If you want one of the more elegant looking materials for your deck then redwood or red cedar are great choices. Both of these western softwoods are highly sought after for their deep rich colors and natural beauty. Both of these species actually contain tannins and oils that help them naturally resist rot, decay and wood boring insects without having to be treated with chemicals. The crew at Island Pro Mowing and Landscaping Inc. are the Saanich Peninsula decking experts!
Ipe Wood Decking: This is another expensive but beautiful decking material. Ipe is well suited for decks because it’s an exotic hardwood that is naturally resistant to rot and decay. It is significantly harder than redwood and cedar too. So as a natural decking material it’s probably one of the best materials to use. Ipe decks are commonly found in luxury homes, resorts, hotels and other high-end construction projects. Island Pro Mowing and Landscaping Inc. can design and build your Ipe deck using responsibly harvested Ipe.
Mahogany Wood Decking: Mahogany is a very strong and durable hardwood popular for it’s rich dark colors. With proper care a Mahogany wood deck will last for years without issue. The cost of Mahogany can vary greatly depending on the time of year and what is available on the marketplace. Old growth Mahogany is more desirable for decking purposes but harder to source and more expensive.
